Meet people, play games, build your network.

The tech field is full of opportunity. There are hundreds of companies looking for talented people to fill development, sales, marketing, human resource, managerial, and other roles throughout the Wasatch front. The key is getting the right people in front of these opportunities. The best way to make sure you aren't left out, is to be constantly building your network.

There are many tools out there to help you do just that. Social media and the internet can help spread information on what is available, but when it comes to landing you that new position, there is nothing better than knowing someone who already works there. When I have been the one performing the interview, there is always an element of uncertainty on how a given candidate will fit within the company. They may be able to answer all the technical questions, have an impressive resume, and give the best of first impressions, but you never can really know how well they will have fit in the end. Personal references help here immensely. When someone who you already work with, and know is a good fit can reference the person, it goes a long way. Building this kind of relationship is not something any app can do. This is why Tech Networking and Games was made. Tabletop games, card games, role playing games and others require a level of personal interaction. They build trust and a sense of understanding between the players. Games offer the opportunity for conversation in a casual and non-threatening way that is perfect for understanding how a person may fit culturally. The puzzles and strategy found in games can help the players understand how each other thinks and works. In the end, all those involved walk away with a better knowledge of the person, and at least some understanding of how interacting with that person to perform necessary tasks is.

So come join us. We hold monthly meet ups at local games stores, larger networking events twice a year, and competitions between companies. If you are interested in learning more, email us at technetworkingandgames@gmail.com and we'd be happy to answer any of your questions. Our events will be posted on our calendar on the bottom of our home page, or they can be found on our facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/TechNetworkingAndGames I hope to see you there!
